Summary
This release includes important security updates and improvements to the exam-taking experience, particularly for embedded exams. We've enhanced the navigation between exam instructions and exam content, ensuring students can review instructions without losing their progress.
Improvements to existing features
Enhanced exam instructions navigation
When taking an embedded exam, students can now toggle between exam instructions and the exam itself without restarting their session
Added a convenient two-button interface to switch between instructions and exam content
The exam remains loaded in the background when viewing instructions, preserving all progress and eliminating the need to re-enter access codes or log in again
Button labels now display the exam title for clarity (with ellipsis for longer titles)
Note: Exams created through LTI 1.3 are not affected by this change, as they already supported this feature.
Infrastructure and security updates
Updated internal validation library to address a security vulnerability
Upgraded exam-taker frontend infrastructure to newer LTS versions for improved security and long-term support
Bug fixes
Fixed exam progress loss when viewing instructions
Resolved an issue where students viewing exam instructions in embedded exams would lose their progress and have to restart their session
Students can now safely review instructions at any time without disrupting their exam session
