Summary
This release gives exam takers visible warnings when their webcam or screen-sharing streams stop reaching the media server, adds an audit trail for changes to student instructions and exam documents, and decommissions deprecated traffic-routing infrastructure.
New Features
[Admin] Ensure there’s an audit trail of any changes made to the student instructions and exam documents attached to an exam. Note: the audit trail can only be viewed by Turnitin staff if there’s a support ticket requesting it.
Improvements to existing features
[Exam taker] Better view of the actual streaming status of all streams in the side panel: if the media server isn’t receiving the video streams correctly, this will now be shown to the exam taker (up to now, webcam and screensharing loss of connection were only detected in the background with the application attempting to reconnect, without indication to the exam taker of any issue). Red indicators will now appear next to the screen sharing and webcam icons, and an error message will be shown when opening any of them:
If the connection stays interrupted for more than 5 minutes, a browser system notification will also appear, in case the exam taker didn’t see the red indicators.
The instructions tell the exam taker to check their internet connection and wait a few minutes before refreshing their page, as the application will attempt to re-connect in the background. This message is, like any other text on the exam-taker’s page, customisable through the Settings → Content Management section.[Infrastructure] Decommission unused traffic routing servers running on older, deprecated software versions.
