We use notifications to:
- Alert test takers when they receive a message from a proctor or from chat support.
- Notify students if an issue is detected, such as problems with video streams or mobile connection.
Step 1: Enable Notifications from Google Chrome
- Open Google Chrome on your Windows 10 device.
- Click on the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
- Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
- In the left sidebar, click Privacy and security.
- Scroll down and select Site settings.
- Under Permissions, find and click Notifications.
- Toggle Sites can ask to send notifications to the ON position (if not already enabled).
- Scroll down to the Blocked section:
- If the ProctorExam website is listed under "Blocked," click the three-dot menu next to it and select Allow.
- If the ProctorExam website is listed under "Blocked," click the three-dot menu next to it and select Allow.
Step 2: Enable Notifications in Windows 10 Settings
- Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.
- Click on System.
- In the left sidebar, select Notifications & actions.
- Under Get notifications from apps and other senders, toggle the switch to ON.
- Scroll down and find Google Chrome in the list of apps.
- Click on Google Chrome, then make sure:
- Notifications are set to On.
- Close the Settings app.
- Notifications are set to On.
Step 3: Turn Off Focus Assist in Windows
Focus Assist may block notifications if it is turned on. To disable it:
- Open Settings by pressing Windows + I.
- Click on System.
- In the left sidebar, select Focus Assist.
- Choose Off to allow all notifications.
Step 4: Click on the notification pop-up on Google Chrome
Close the settings and reopen Google Chrome to ensure the changes take effect. You should receive a notification. Click on the notification alert to move to the next step.
