We use notifications to:
- Alert test takers when they receive a message from a proctor or from chat support.
- Notify students if an issue is detected, such as problems with video streams or mobile connection.
Step 1: Enable Notifications from Google Chrome
- Open Google Chrome on your Mac device.
- Click on the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
- Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
- In the left sidebar, click Privacy and security.
- Scroll down and select Site settings.
- Under Permissions, find and click Notifications.
- Toggle Sites can ask to send notifications to the ON position (if not already enabled).
- Scroll down to the Blocked section.

If the ProctorExam website is listed under "Blocked," click the three-dot menu next to it and select Allow.

Step 2: Enable Chrome Notifications on Your Mac
- On your Mac, click on the Apple menu and choose System Preferences.
- Select Notifications.
- Scroll down the list on the left and find Google Chrome and Google Chrome Alerts.

Click Google Chrome to access its notification settings.

Toggle Allow Notifications to the ON position.

Alert style: Ensure ‘’Alerts’’ is selected.

Sound: Enable sound for notifications.

Click Google Chrome Helper (Alerts) if available to access its notification settings.

Toggle Allow Notifications to the ON position.

Step 3: Disable "Do Not Disturb" or "Focus" Mode
- Open System Preferences and go to Notifications & Focus.
- Click on the Focus tab.
- Make sure Do Not Disturb is not enabled during the exam period.
If it is scheduled, disable the schedule or adjust it.
Step 4: Click on the notification pop-up on Google Chrome
Close the settings and reopen Google Chrome to ensure the changes take effect. You should receive a notification. Click on the notification alert to move to the next step.
